State parental leave openly and positively — 'Parental leave (BEEG)' with dates. BEEG protects the right to parental leave and return to work in Germany. Under AGG §1, discrimination on grounds of maternity or parental leave is inadmissible. Nevertheless: Some employers react with unconscious bias — this is illegal but it happens. Countermeasure: Frame the parental leave as a development phase if applicable ('Parental leave with accompanying online course in X' or 'Parental leave incl. voluntary work at Y'). Important under AGG: Questions about family planning or further parental leave in job interviews are inadmissible — you may remain silent or deflect. LinkedIn Economic Graph: Candidates with complete, transparent CVs including parental leave are rated as more trustworthy in surveys.
