The statutory minimum wage in Germany is adjusted annually — the current level can be found at BA and Destatis. It applies to all employees in Germany, regardless of nationality or industry. Exceptions: apprentices (separate regulation under BBiG), long-term unemployed in the first 6 months, mandatory internships up to 3 months. Special regulations in collective agreements can set higher minimum wages (TVG Q040). The MiLoG (Minimum Wage Act) gives employees a direct right to sue. Relevant for job searching: if an offer is below the minimum wage, it is unlawful — report to the customs administration or labour court. GDPR relevance: salary documents are employee data and are subject to BDSG Section 26.
