Job-hopping is less accepted in Germany than in the USA — but the trend is changing. According to LinkedIn Economic Graph 2025, the average tenure in a position has dropped to 2.5 years. Less than 2 years per position is still viewed critically by German recruiters. Strategy: Provide each position with a clear narrative — not 'I was unhappy' but 'I deliberately sought more responsibility' or 'the company underwent restructuring'. If the changes are explainable by external reasons (company insolvency, fixed-term project positions, startup closures) — clearly indicate this in the CV. Cedefop: Younger generations change jobs more frequently and this is increasingly accepted as a normal career path.
