The BA supports retraining through Bildungsgutscheine (education vouchers) and specific programmes. Prerequisites: You must be unemployed or at risk of unemployment, or working in an occupation with recognised structural change. The Qualifizierungschancengesetz (since 2019) has expanded funding opportunities for employed workers as well. Funding level: Up to 100% of course costs and maintenance allowance (approx. 60% of last net salary or ALG I level) during retraining. Cedefop: Germany has a well-developed retraining infrastructure by European comparison. ILO: Lifelong learning is the structural response to technological change. Practically: Contact your BA employment adviser, apply for a Bildungsgutschein, then choose an accredited training provider yourself.
